Uploading your Web Pages to your Business Basic Hosting Package

To upload your web pages you can use a FTP program similar to WS-FTP.
You can download the shareware version of WS-FTP by clicking here

After installing ws-ftp, follow the instructions to Configure ws-ftp.

 

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Programs
  3. Click on ws_ftp
  4. Click on ws_ftp95LE

 

 


Select General Tab
  1. Click on New
  2. In the Profile Name text box, type in a name for your web site
  3. In the Host Name text box, put your URL eg. www.mydomain.com
  4. select Automatic Detect for Host Type
  5. In the User ID section enter your domain name. eg. mydomain
  6. Enter the ftp password you were issued.
  7. Click on OK

  1. The program will now attempt to connect to your Business Basic server.
  2. After ws_ftp has logged in, it will display two windows (see the picture below)
  3. The left hand side window is the Local system (your computer) and the right hand side window is the Remote system (your web server).
  4. Use the left hand window (ie Local system) of ws_ftp to find the directory where your web page files are stored on your computer.
  5. Highlight the web page and graphics files that you want to transfer to your website
  6. Click on the button which looks like this. (--> )
  7. Your files will now begin to transfer to our server. This will take some time if you have very big file sizes.

  1. After the files have been transferred to the Remote System, check to see that they appear in the right hand side window (see picture below). Also make sure that your main web page file, the page people will first see on your web site is also named index.html
  2. If the main web page file is not named index.html you will need to find the file within the right hand side window. Highlight the file by clicking on it once, press the rename button on the right and type index.html into the text box that appears. Press OK to finish renaming the file.
  3. Click Close
  4. Click Exit

Your web site will now be accessible by people on the Internet.

NOTE : The Business Basic Hosting Package does not allow
 Front Page Server Extensions to be executed.
